Autoplugin Key — Heater Remote Control by Ford Key, OBD-II PnP Connection
Autoplugin Key
controls fuel-fired heater (FFH) via CAN-bus. It uses plug-n-play connection into OBD-II connector.
You can use original Ford vehicle's key with 3 buttons to start / stop fuel-fired heater with Autoplugin
Key. Just plug Autoplugin Key cartridge to OBD-II connector, and that's all! |

Autoplugin Key is compatible to Ford Focus, C-Max and Kuga models, factory equipped with Eberspächer
Hydronic fuel-fired heaters B5WS and D5WS:
Ford Focus 2 |
2004—2011 |
Ford Focus C-Max |

Ford C-Max |
2006—2010 |

2. Start / Stop of FFH by Ford Remote Key
Autoplugin Key lets you immediately start and stop (adjustable) of fuel-fired heater by original 3-button Ford
remote key. It uses a combination of Lock button presses (4 times by default) to activate Autoplugin Key. And certainly,
you can use driver information system to program FFH, as you did it before.
3. Guaranteed Engine and Passenger Compartment Heating
Ford FFH (Eberspächer Hydronic B5WS or D5WS) has no special mode for remote
start. It has 3 modes to run:
Immediate start-up (work time of 30 min) |
Programmed start-up (work time up to 70 min) |
Boost heat mode (running with engine). |
Autoplugin Key uses a combination of modes for remote start of FFH to achieve optimal performance.
4. Built-In Button and LED
Autoplugin Key has a built-in button for
one-touch FFH start/stop, boost mode control and settings change. Built-in button functions:
Heater Start |
Heater Stop |
One-time boost disable |
One-time boost enable |
Boost extension (doesn't let the FFH stop after the engine has been switched off) |
LED is used to indicate run-time errors of FFH and to confirm the button presses.
5. FFH Start and Work Indication by Turn Signals
Autoplugin Key may flash by the turn signals in rear-view mirrors to inform you that the heater has
started and operates. It's adjustable function, which may be switched on or off (as default).
6. Extended Control of Boost Heat Mode
Autoplugin Key has several adjustable functions to control the boost heat mode of FFH:
Boost heat mode permanently enabled / disabled by Autoplugin Key |
Boost heat mode disabling by the coolant temperature: Autoplugin Key doesn't
let FFH run with engine, if its temperature is higher than programmed one. It can be useful to prevent
FFH from short run cycles, which result in clogging of FFH. |
One-time enabling/disabling of the boost heat mode by the built-in
button. This function is may be useful to short trips, for example. |
Boost Extension. This function let FFH continue working after the engine
has been switched off. It's often useful with short stops in a trip.
7. Main Battery Protection from Discharging
Fuel-fired heater uses the energy of the vehicle's main battery to work, not only fuel.
Autoplugin Keyn may control a level of battery voltage to prevent the battery from discharging.
The level can be
adjusted in accordance of battery condition. Also you can limit time of autonomous work of FFH.
8. Errors Reset (Unblocking)
If your heater doesn't burn after start, the ECU of FFH stops the heater and fixes an error in
memory. After 5 unsuccessful starts FFH is being blocked
If a problem is not caused by FFH malfunction (ex.
exhaust system is clogged by snow), it can be enough to reset ECU errors by Autoplugin Key.
Please pay attention: this function may be used only for that vehicle, in which it was activated for the first
time. If you need a professional tool to maintenance of Ford FFHs, take notice of Autoplugin Key Service.
